Message from SRO

A message from the SRO, Chad Barry, regarding SRO's riding on the buses...

Dear Elma Primary School Families:

Attached is a letter from our School Resource Office, Chad Barry concerning the SRO’s riding on the buses.

*****************************************

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Student safety remains our top priority—both inside our school buildings and during transportation to and from school.

As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and positive bus environment, you may occasionally see a School Resource Officer (SRO) riding along on a bus route. These ride-a-longs are periodic, observational, and proactive in nature.

The purpose of these observations is to:

  • Support safe student behavior on the bus

  • Assist our bus drivers by identifying potential safety concerns

  • Observe routes and bus stops for traffic or visibility issues

  • Help prevent conflicts before they carry over into the school day

These ride-a-longs are not disciplinary, are not focused on individual students, and do not replace normal bus supervision procedures. They are simply one of several ways we work together—school staff, transportation staff, and local law enforcement—to ensure students arrive both to and from school safely.

We appreciate the partnership we share with our families and thank you for helping reinforce safe and respectful behavior while riding the bus. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the main office.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Chad Barry
