Principal's Message - May 2nd
Greetings, Elma Primary Families.
May is here!
Thank you to the families that joined us for our Kindergarten Orientation session on Thursday. It was nice to connect with some new and familiar faces, and we are so excited to welcome the class of 2038 to Elma Primary! We will host our next orientation session for families and incoming kindergarten students on Tuesday, May 20th at 9:30 AM. Parents will have the opportunity to meet our current kindergarteners, meet Mrs. Aroune, our school Counselor, and hear from kindergarten teachers while incoming kindergarteners visit classrooms for a story and a craft. Kindergarten screening for students not currently enrolled in our district UPK classes will take place on May 21st. Please contact the main office to make an appointment if you have not already done so.
We will also host a program for parents/guardians of incoming UPK students on Thursday, May 8th at 5:30 PM in the cafeteria. Parents will have a chance to hear from Ms. Czuba, Mr. Dobmeier, and learn about the program here at Elma. This is an information session intended for parents. Incoming UPK students will have the opportunity visit Elma Primary and meet their teacher in August.
Our PTO volunteer breakfast will take place on Thursday, May 8th at 9:15 AM in the cafeteria. This is an opportunity to recognize those who have helped us with the numerous activities the PTO ran this year to benefit our students and families. If you have volunteered and wish to attend, please let Mrs. Jacobs know by Monday, May 5th. New executive board members will also be elected at this meeting.
The PTO will be sponsoring our Cookies and Canvas event on Friday, May 16th. There will be a session for K -1 students and families at 6:00, and one for 2nd and 3rd grade students and families at 7:15. To ensure that we have adequate supplies, those planning on attending are asked to sign up in advance by May 9th. Please visit the PTO Facebook page or review the flyer that was sent home for more information if you are interested in attending.
Finally, a reminder for our 3rd grade families, that our 3rd graders will participate in NYS Math Assessments next Tuesday, May 6th and Wednesday, May 7th. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support. Have a great weekend!
