Principal's Message - May 9th
Greetings, Elma Primary Families.
This week, we wrapped up 3rd grade NYS Math Assessments. This administration went smoothly, and there were no statewide technology issues this time through. We are proud of our 3rd graders for the positivity, hard work, and focus they showed during these sessions.
We enjoyed hosting parents of incoming UPK students on Thursday, and we look forward to continuing our orientation program for incoming kindergarten students and families with our morning visit at 9:30 on May 20th. We will also be completing kindergarten screening for students not currently enrolled in District UPK classes on May 21st. Please contact our main office for an appointment if you have not already scheduled one.
We are looking forward to a number of field trips and fun events throughout the month of May. Thanks to our PE department, we are excited to have the opportunity to host Kevin McCarthy for a concert for all students during the school day on May 22nd. Our spring cleanup day will be on May 23rd, and we look forward to our 3rd Grade Picnic on May 30th. More details will be provided as we draw closer to these events.
Information will be coming home soon regarding our 3rd Grade Moving Up Ceremony. This year, our ceremony will take place in the Iroquois Middle School auditorium on June 20th at 1:00 PM. This will allow us to accommodate guests for our large 3rd grade class without limiting the number that can attend to celebrate our students.
The Intermediate School will host a Parent Information Night for third grade parents on Tuesday, May 27th at 6:00 Pm in the MS Auditorium. More information will be sent home with students.
With the forecast looking good for next week, we plan to complete our final two fire drills over the course of the week. If you have any questions about safety drills at Elma, please feel free to reach out.
Lastly, some gratitude to share…
- On Thursday, we hosted our final PTO meeting with a volunteer breakfast. Thank you to everyone who has volunteered this year to support our school. Our students and families have been able to have so many great experiences this year because of the wonderful members of our school community who have shared their time, energy, and talents with the school.
- Thank you to our PTO and the PTO executive board for all they have done for us this year. In addition to bringing us so many great memories this year, they provided one of the most amazing staff appreciation weeks we have ever experienced. On behalf of the staff of Elma Primary, thank you for your generosity and kindness!
- With Staff Appreciation Week coming to a close, I want to take a moment to thank all of our Elma Primary staff members. I am so fortunate to work with a group of amazing and talented people who show unwavering dedication to our students and families every day.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support. Have a great weekend!
