June 14 - Principal's Message
Greetings, Elma Primary Families.
Happy Flag Day! This morning, we celebrated this special day outside as a school. Speakers taught students about the history of the flag and its meaning. We sang patriotic songs and honored those who serve our country, and we discussed the importance of gratitude. We also buried our time capsule and invited students to come back in 30 years to dig it up when Elma Primary turns 100 years old!
Thank you to all who joined us for our Kindergarten End-of-Year Performance this past Tuesday. We are so proud of how much our kindergarten students have grown over the course of this year, and we appreciate the support and partnership of our families in making their first year at Elma a great one. Thanks also to our kindergarten team and Mrs. Szablewski for their hard work in preparing students for this special day.
With the heat wave coming next week, our PE teachers have some fun water activities planned for students. Please send your child with an extra pair of clothes, shoes, and a beach towel on Phys Ed days for water activities. Sneakers are still required, and bathing suits are not permitted. If possible, please also send your child with a plastic bag for wet items.
We are looking forward to hosting our families on Thursday, June 20th for our 3rd and 4th grade moving up ceremonies in the gym. Our 4th grade ceremony will take place at 10:00, with doors opening to families at 9:30. This will allow us to ensure our arrival process is wrapped up and parking is available. Our 3rd grade ceremony will take place at 1:00, with doors opening to families at 12:30. Following the ceremonies, most families opt to sign their children out for the day to celebrate. If you do plan to sign your child out after the ceremony and have not already done so, please send a note in advance.
A reminder that school is not in session on Wednesday, June 19th, in honor of Juneteenth and our last day of school is Friday, June 21st.
Thank you, as always, for your support and have a great weekend!
