May 17 - Principal's Message

Greetings, Elma Primary Families.

This week, we enjoyed hosting our incoming kindergarten students and their families for their 2nd visit to Elma Primary.  As we discussed during our session, kindergarten screening for students who are not currently in the district UPK program will take place at Elma Primary on Wednesday, May 22nd, and students who are currently in our UPK program will be screened at Marilla Primary on Friday, May 24th.

Yesterday, our kindergarten students had fun on their field trip to the Buffalo Zoo.  Thank you to our staff, PTO, and parent volunteers for making this a great experience for our kids!

Today, our 4th graders are visiting Iroquois Intermediate to connect with Mr. Harding and get a tour of the school.  Next Tuesday, May 21st, all three primary buildings will be hosting a 4th grade band and orchestra concert in the Middle School auditorium at 7:00 PM.  We look forward to seeing our future II students on stage together for the first time, and families who plan to attend the concert are encouraged to swing by the Intermediate gymnasium for the Budget Vote.

On Thursday, May 23rd, our 3rd graders will have the opportunity to attend the Bisons Kids Day game with students from Marilla and Wales for a special field trip organized by our PE department.  On the same day, we look forward to welcoming families to Elma for our 2nd Grade Wax Museum Project at 1:45.

Parents of current 3rd and 4th grade students, please follow the link below to view a welcome letter from Mrs. Bonczyk, who will be serving as the II school counselor next year.

As the letter states, the II team is also interested in learning more about our rising 4th and 5th graders from families.  Please take a moment to complete the appropriate input form for your child to help ensure a smooth transition as the II team gets to know each student.   Follow the appropriate grade-level link below to access this form for your child or children.

Next week, our Student Government will be sponsoring a spring fundraiser with the sale of squishies for $1 during lunch periods.  Each year, the student representatives select a charitable organization to support.  This year, the group has chosen to support Pawsitive for Heroes through WNY Heroes, Inc.  Pawsitive for Heroes rescues dogs from shelters and trains them to serve as therapy dogs for veterans with service-related disabilities.   All profits from our squishy sale will go directly to this organization.  Please consider supporting our students and this worthwhile cause by sending your child to school with a dollar or two next week.

Thank you, as always for your support, and have a great weekend!
