May 24 - Principal's Message

Greetings, Elma Primary Families.

We have had an exciting week at Elma!  On Tuesday evening, our 4th grade band and orchestra students performed alongside their future II classmates from Wales and Marilla at our concert at the Middle School.  The students did an amazing job, and we are so proud of their hard work in preparing for this performance.  Thank you also to Miss Schutt, Miss Swarts, and Mrs. Szablewski for all they did to make this a memorable experience for our students and families.

On Wednesday, we welcomed our incoming kindergarten students and families for screening.  Students who are currently enrolled in District UPK classes will be screened at Marilla Primary today.  It has been a pleasure getting to know our newest students and their families, and we look forward to connecting again on August 28th for our Bus and Brunch.  Of course, we are also open to connecting with families and students between now and then.  Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

On Thursday, our 3rd graders enjoyed a beautiful day at Sahlen Field taking in the Bisons game for kids day at the ballpark.  At Elma, our 2nd grade team and students hosted a Wax Museum.  Students did an amazing job presenting their research and staying in character as influential figures.  Thank you to all the families who joined us to celebrate the hard work of our students, and thank you to our amazing 2nd grade team for making this happen.

Today, our students are participating in our annual yard clean-up day, doing some gardening with our PE and special area teachers.  It’s a beautiful day to be outside, and our school is looking great thanks to their work.

This week, our student government sponsored our squishy sale to raise funds for Pawsitive for Heroes.  We sold out early and raised over $500!  The money will be put to good to rescue dogs and train them to serve as therapy dogs for veterans with service-related disabilities.  Thank you to our student leaders for promoting the event and selling items during lunches, and thank you to all who made donations to support this worthwhile cause.

Parents of 3rd and 4th grade students headed to Iroquois Intermediate next year, please take a moment to complete the appropriate input form for your child to help ensure a smooth transition as the II team gets to know each student.   Follow the appropriate grade-level link below to access this form for your child or children.
