May 3 - Principal's Message
Greetings, Elma Primary Families.
It’s 70’s day at Elma Primary today to mark 70 years since the opening of the school building. Students and staff have done a fantastic job dressing up for the day and all have fully embraced the theme with some fun activities and dance parties breaking out in different parts of the building and during PE classes. It is quite a sight!
We hosted our first Introduction to Kindergarten session Thursday evening and enjoyed connecting with the class of 2037! It was great to see so many new faces and connect with some familiar ones as well. We will host our next visit on Tuesday, May 14th from 9:30-10:30, and Kindergarten screening for students not enrolled in our district UPK classes will take place on May 22nd.
Gaga Ball has been a huge hit after opening it up to students last week! Thank you again to our PTO for funding this and to our Mrs. Sonricker and Ms. Lisitsky for teaching our students the game.
A reminder that our next PTO meeting will be on Wednesday, May 8th at 9:15. This will be a special meeting with a breakfast to recognize all of our volunteers who helped organize great programs and experiences for our students this year. Please join us!
Our final round of Guidelines for Success meetings has begun. This past Monday, our 3rd and 4th graders learned about the importance of being courageous learners and working hard with special guest, Mr. Harding, our Iroquois Intermediate principal. We will be meeting with K, 1, and 2 students for presentations over the next couple of weeks.
Our 3rd and 4th grade visits to the Intermediate School will begin next week. 3rd graders will visit the II on the morning of Friday, May 10th to spend some time with Mr. Harding and tour the building, and 4th graders will visit the morning of Friday, May 17th.
As the weather gets warmer, please help us remind students about appropriate dress. The code of conduct posted in the district calendar (p. 9) provides guidelines regarding student dress code. Midriffs should not be visible and, for safety reasons, flip flops should not be worn by primary students.
Thank you, as always for your support, and have a great weekend!
